Kenya National Day, otherwise known as Jamhuri Day, was held in a luxurious hotel in the heart of the City. The event was organised by Mr & Mrs Muchemi, the High Commissioner of Kenya here in London. Ambassadors from all over the world and prominent business men attended the event. The High Commissioner said that Kenya is still welcoming tourists and foreign investors.
Loice Shinaka, Aged 24, Won the Miss Kenya Competition.
Miss Kenya event was very successful this year. Hundreds, if not thousands, of people from all ethnicities turned up for the event held in Southeast London. A long queue was seen outside the venue as people waited to get in. Congratulations to the organisers Tim and Digi, both of Kenyan society.co.uk, and Sam Ochieng of Sacoma. That was an unforgettable moment not forgetting to mention the ladies behind the scenes.
Asked why she joined the competition and what she thinks of herself this is what she said: “My reasons for joining Miss Kenya-UK 2005 is because I would like to take part in a charitable community event, meet different people and to have some fun as well. My hobbies involve dancing, singing, listening to music and playing basketball. I am simple, gentle at heart and love nice people with a good sense of humour. I like sharing ideas and dislike things that makes me sad, mostly when it has to do with things of the heart.” Loice Shinaka lives in Basildon, Essex, UK.
