Graduate Advanced Programme in Health and Social Care
The Graduate Advanced Programme in Health and Social Care is a 24-month course designed for candidates who wish to pursue their career in Social Care. This course will provide you the academic and practical skills to develop an understanding for different aspects of social care, including:  effective communication, provision of support and advice, management of people as well as acquiring ability to develop an essential care environment for people in need.
Courses at LondonSAM are designed for learners

The course is designed to be applicable to persons in the care industry who deliver physical, emotional or enabling care to clients/patients, whether they work in health or social care, and  whether in the public, private or voluntary sectors. It is designed to be applicable wherever such care is delivered (Whether hospitals and institutions, or in private residential care). This course is designed to allow   students to acquire the skills necessary for the professional delivery of health and social care requirements to clients/patients.

Teaching:  This course is taught within the London SAM premises, and is taught in a classroom environment.  Over the two years, students will be lectured on the various aspects of care, as well as undertaking classroom mock sessions, where various care related scenarios will be practiced in class in preparation to exams. The course is focused on building strengths in our students, to enable them to return to their countries,   confident and skilled in dealing with (in many cases difficult situations) of client care situations.

Learning outcome

The learning outcome of the course is to equip candidates for a career in any of the main areas of Health and Social Care, where you will be able to put your skills into practice. Your graduate destination is likely to be within the social care and advice firms.

Profile of candidate
The course is designed for individuals who wish to build on their existing social care skills whilst being introduced to a range of effective communication skills, group behaviour, social policy and practices, care environment and advisory skills, which will equip them with the relevant skills and knowledge to manage in a real world situation.

 

Programme objectives

Health and Social Care is a vast service sector undergoing rapid change, with new government initiatives giving it a higher profile than ever. Priorities on the healthcare agenda include being more responsive to patient needs, and preventing illness by promoting a healthy lifestyle. The focus in frontline health and social care is on giving service-users more independence, choice and control. These developments mean there is greater demand for well-trained and multi-skilled people across a range of rewarding employment opportunities.

  • To produce a workforce that is equipped to meet the growing demands of local and international Social Care.
  • To give a thorough understanding of the principles and theories of Health and Social Care.
  • To create awareness of current practice and an appreciation of the directions of current research in Social Care.
To empower students to adapt to a fast-changing Health and Social Care industry and secure effective employment upon graduation.
Course duration
The full-time version of the programme comprises 2 years of full-time study. At our School there are currently 2 intakes for the full-time version of the programme each year. The first semester begins in mid June. The second commences in mid January.

Each stage comprises 15 weeks of full-time study. In the certificate and diploma stages 12 weeks are reserved for instruction, self-study and in-course assessments. Also, in each of these stages a further 3 weeks are reserved for self-study and in-course assignments.

All courses are structured in such a way that students should be able to pass their examination at their first attempt. Classes consist of formal lectures together with practice in attempting past examination questions.

Upon completion of the relevant Diploma, students can gain advanced entry into various universities in the UK. For more information on the above programmes and on the School, write to:

GADBM course module

Assessment fees

There will be an assessment fee of £30 per paper chargeable during the semester exam/assignment submission. If there is a delay or late in paying the assessment fee  then please note that this will incur an additional fee of £10 plus the assessment fee of £30 per module/assessment; however, there will be a grace period of maximum 2 weeks for late payment. The deadline for fee payable will be informed to the students in the induction or in the class room. There will be a separate form must be filled in.

The late fee will be payable except under extenuating circumstances; however, proof and written confirmation must be provided and the final decision will be made by the academic panel.
