Asian Awards |
| The awards are instituted to recognize, reward and honour high achievers among British Asians. Over the years the Asian community has made a significant contribution to the growth of the UK economy and the rich cultural diversity of British society. During 2003 / 2004, in the city of London alone, there were 39,000 Asian owned businesses, with a turnover of nearly £60 billion and employing 300,000 people. |

| The Asian Achievers Awards were launched in 2001, and are designed to recognise and celebrate the success of British Asians across all sectors from Business, Arts, Sports and the Community. Now in its 5th Year, the awards are seen as one of the highest accolades that a British Asian can receive. |
| In the past winners have included film director Gurvinder Chadha, Sir Gulam Noon, former England cricket captain Naseer Hussain, entrepreneur Karan Billimoria and Olympic silver medallist boxer Amir Khan. Some of the past Chief Guests at the Awards have included Rt.Hon Paul Boateng, Baroness Valerie Amos and Rt. Hon Patricia Hewitt. |
